Business Link for Cambridgeshire – 'Changing the face of your company'

Business Link for Cambridgeshire wanted to promote their Business Improvement Programme, aimed at helping small businesses achieve Investors in People status, and attract them to a seminar.

Our memorable and friendly 'smiley face' visual with a supporting strapline: 'Changing the face of your company' across direct response leaflets, stationery and advertising, helped Business Link to reassure and encourage companies who felt daunted by the process.

As well as an incredible response that filled all their seminar places, the campaign won a Small Business Service Award and was even adopted by other Business Links across the UK to increase their take-up.

Adoption & Fostering Unit – Fact: You can help

Peterborough City Council needed to meet annual targets for placing children in foster care and with adoptive families. Part of our brief was to co-ordinate their complete range of information sheets. This included posters, brochures and leaflets for doctor's surgeries and display stands.

The Adoption and Fostering 'Fact' campaign was launched with poster ads using black and white images to convey stark realities; particularly the problem of placing teenagers. The follow up literature was deliberately colourful to show that simply by asking for more information you had started to bring colour into a child's life.
The 'Fact' campaign was hugely successful – that year Peterborough City Council exceeded all their previous targets for placing children.

RS Component – Your new best friend

RS Components is the UK's leading supplier of industrial products, selling everything from hydraulic pumps to plastic hinges. RS already has significant mail order catalogue presence and increasing online awareness, but wanted to promote their countrywide Trade Counter network. The aim was to increase foot trade by highlighting their convenience and exceptional service levels.

Our campaign positioned RS Trade Counter as 'Your new best friend' using visuals of man's best friend (what else?!), to emphasise the friendly support and fast, enthusiastic service trade customers could expect. A range of fun, money saving offers helped to encourage regular visits.

Wood Green Animal Shelters – Be a star this Christmas

We were asked by Wood Green Animal Shelters to develop their ‘Christmas Appeal’ for 2006.’  The appeal helps their unwanted animals at the shelters by raising support from the general public via donations.

We created the ‘Be a Star this Christmas’ campaign, which consisted of a letter and a ‘Christmas Message’ slip where donators could send their wishes to the animals.

The result was very successful. Georgie Smith at Wood Green Animal Shelters said, “On the first day of our Christmas campaign we had banked more donations in one day, in comparison to last year’s Christmas Appeal, when it took six days to get the same amount! Thanks again for your great work on this project.”

hc solicitors – hc solicitors & you, the perfect partnership'

The brief was for a complete revision of brand identity and corporate material for one of the premier legal firms in the East of England. With over 100 staff and a 60-year tradition of providing successful legal counsel, hc Solicitors offer a comprehensive legal service for commercial and private clients.

Media Communications repositioned this client as "hc solicitors & you, the perfect partnership”, revised their brand, signage, interior decor, staff uniforms and website. In addition, print material was produced including a folder, commercial and private brochures, newsletter and a range of specific service information leaflets.

Business Link Devon & Cornwall – Pace 'your personal journey'

Their target audience was known for being too busy to read unsolicited mail or complete forms, so Business Link Devon and Cornwall needed to find another way to promote personal development for director-level professionals. We had to create a direct mail device that wouldn't be filed under 'bin' and made requesting further information almost effortless.

Our solution was a high quality box with an intriguing strapline on the lid. Inside there was a stylish pen and a simple form, requesting only basic contact information. The follow up literature was equally simple and direct. The result was fully booked seminars, a second print run, and great feedback from our client.

Clare Lodge – 'encourage, nurture & thrive'

How do you brand a secure unit for teenage girls if you can't use photographs or case studies of the girls themselves? This was the challenge Clare Lodge set when they needed help promoting their services to local authorities.

Our solution was to focus on the training and educational aspects of Clare Lodge. We created a strapline: 'encourage, nurture & thrive' and used illustrations of wild flowers to represent the beauty, goodness, and future potential hidden within these often distressed and vulnerable girls. The prospectus and supporting stationery was extremely well received by local authorities and all the places at Clare Lodge were filled, which hopefully helped to turn around a few more young lives.

Wood Green Animal Shelters – 'Pet Alert Scheme'

Wood Green Animal Shelters needed to increase awareness of their ‘Pet Alert Scheme’. The scheme enables the pet owner, to register a contact telephone number for the person or organisation you wish to entrust with the care of your pets, should anything happen to you.

As the scheme was already in place, our job was to review the brand positioning of the logo and produce literature to make the campaign successful.

We repositioned the Pet Alert scheme using the slogan ‘Peace of mind for you and your pets’. The advertising and leaflets used the strap line ‘Now that’s a good idea’ to encourage people to take interest. Both pet owners and staff at Wood Green welcomed the new look.

Peterborough City Council – Discover Peterborough ‘the place to be’

We originally won the tender to design a magazine, literature and advertising campaign to promote Peterborough and the surrounding areas. Our design emphasised the diversity of the city, whilst the copy reinforced the theme of discovery and diversity, with chapter headings such as 'Discover a place to relax’ and 'Discover a place to eat’. Peterborough City Council needed the literature to be self-funding and we sold advertising space to local businesses to achieve this.

Linda Wills, Tourism Manager at Peterborough City Council, praised the campaign for its clear and stylish communication of Peterborough’s attractions and said: "We were impressed with the creativity and understanding of the project displayed by the Media Communications team.”

Peterborough Learning Partnership – Building Essential Skills

We were asked to design a direct mail campaign to highlight the need to improve essential literacy skills within the construction industry and provide a quick and easy way for businesses to book places on seminars.

The key graphic was of a brick wall with straplines written in cement: 1+1 = too and 1+2 = free. To better capture attention, the direct mail device was a well designed CD holder, which contained a CD providing additional information. Fax back forms and a website gave people a choice of how to request further information. The literature produced a positive response and attendance on the seminars was high.

Lighthouse Properties Services Ltd. – Looking out for you

Re-branding projects are often more about refreshing an existing identity than creating a new look. This was the case with Lighthouse, a property management company who wanted to promote their rental services to students.

We used their existing logo, which we felt still reflected their culture, to create a bright new visual style and positioning for literature, signage, advertising and a supporting website. The materials were targeted at two audiences: students and landlords, and emphasised how Lighthouse could make the whole process hassle free. We also provided Lighthouse with a pack distribution service. All their properties are full and there are already waiting lists for next year.

AVS Fencing Supplies Ltd.

AVS commissioned us to produce a promotional advertising and direct mail campaign to raise awareness of the opening of their new store in Peterborough. The campaign consisted of flyers, leaflets and a local radio advert. It posed a simple question ‘Need Fencing or Decking?’ then speak to the experts.

The campaign and Open Day were a huge success achieving good awareness of the new store and increased ‘onsite’ foot traffic.

AVS were so pleased with the results that they asked us to develop the advertising campaign to further promote the new store. This resulted in a flyer inserted into local newspapers and dropped through target postcode letterboxes. This too was well received and promoted ongoing interest and sales in the store.
